Kneading the dough, measuring the sugar and the milk, the butter and the eggs diverts the mind from the thoughts that make you unhappy. The aroma of freshly baked cakes and loaves of bread uplifts the spirits.

One and a half cup flour

One and a half teaspoon baking powder

Quarter teaspoon salt

Half cup unsalted butter, softened if you are using salted butter skip the quarter teaspoon of salt mentioned above

One cup sugar

Two large eggs, room temperature

Half teaspoon vanilla extract

Half cup whole milk

Heat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius, take an 8-inch cake baking pan, butter it and lightly dust with flour.

 Using an egg beater, a blend together the flour and the baking powder, first adding the butter, one spoon at a time, followed by the sugar, eggs and then the milk, followed by the vanilla extract and the salt.

 Bake for 30-35 minutes until the cake is ready, insert a skewer to test if it ready.

This 50-minute exercise (thirty minutes of baking and twenty minutes of prep time) will certainly make you happy.
